Friends of the Gordon (PTA)

Friends of the Gordon is an organisation composed of parents, carers, family members, staff and the local community.

Membership is open to anyone who wishes to support the school.

The Friends of the Gordon have two aims:

  • to provide social events for pupils, parents, carers and other family members;
  • to raise funds which are used to provide a wide range of educational resources and experiences for the children. 

A number of events take place during the year. These have included in the past:

  • quiz night (adults)
  • discos (children)
  • Christmas fair (families)
  • bake sales (families)
  • movie nights (children)
  • summer barbecue & disco (families)

The Friends of the Gordon committee consists of a Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer and Secretary.

The Friends of the Gordon are dedicated to supporting the school and do a wonderful job!

FRIENDS OF THE GORDON (FoG) COMMITTEE

These are the responsibilities of the FoG committee members:

 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CHAIRPERSON

  1. To chair the FoG meetings on a regular basis.
  2. To work within the model constitution.
  3. To encourage all members of the school community to support the FoG.
  4. To assist with the planning of fundraising events.
  5. To work in conjunction with school staff.
  6. To hold meetings with committee members to forward plan on behalf of the FoG.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE VICE CHAIRPERSON

  1. To support the Chairperson in performing their role.
  2. To deputise for the Chairperson in their absence.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TREASURER

  1. To keep financial accounts on behalf of the FoG.
  2. To give a financial report at each meeting.
  3. To bank monies as and when required.
  4. To work within the model constitution.
  5. To encourage all members of the school community to support the FoG.
  6. To assist with planning fundraising events.
  7. To work in conjunction with school staff.
  8. To attend meetings with committee members to forward plan on behalf of the FoG.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SECRETARY

  1. To liaise with the Chair to arrange the FoG meetings.
  2. To finalise an agenda for each FoG meeting with the Chair.
  3. To take minutes at FoG meetings and distribute them.
  4. To work within the model constitution.
  5. To encourage all members of the school community to support the FoG.
  6. To assist with planning fundraising events.
  7. To work in conjunction with school staff.
  8. To attend meetings with committee members to forward plan on behalf of the FoG.
